Ensuring the health and safety of your family is essential when creating a comfortable environment in which they can live each day. Your annual clean-up checklist should include mold removal and HVAC cleaning in order to establish healthy environment within your home.
Your goal should be to create a safe environment for all members of your family. Now is the perfect time to check for dangerous mold and other biological contaminants that could be contributing to allergies and other unhealthy conditions in your home. There are developed systems which will suppress and remove mold/biological contaminants, thereby creating a healthy atmosphere for everyone.
You should request a qualified mold contractor to visually assess the particular situation and determine which removal method will be the most effective. The mold inspector will write up a scope of work from which a mold remediation company can work. Many California mold remediation companies employ new and innovative solutions for mold remediation and removal, such as Active Video Inspection for Duct Cleaning and use ICESonic CO2 blasting, and ThermaPure Heat.
In some cases the contractor will separately retain an industrial hygienist to perform an analytical survey to determine the type of contaminant present and help develop a work plan to perform the remediation. Remember, the key to mold control is moisture control. If mold is a problem in your home, you should have it assessed and cleaned up promptly, and have any damage from the water intrusion immediately repaired.
It is important to dry the water-damaged areas and items within 24-48 hours to prevent mold growth. Although it may be impossible to get rid of all mold and mold spores, controlling moisture and keeping your home clean can be your best defense. Also, make sure all water sources such as sprinklers are aiming away from the house so there are no possible problems from regular watering.
Another way to improve the Air Quality in your home is by having your Air Ducts checked and cleaned. Your homes’ heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems accumulate dust and dirt, and thereby become a breeding ground for a variety of health threats such as dander, dust, pollen, mold and mildew. Contractors may use things like the Air-Care System, together with turbojets, video inspection cameras and electrostatic air filters, to assist in eliminating these issues. The Video Inspection System provides technicians with instant video footage of air ducts for a thorough assessment before and after cleaning.
To thoroughly clean HVAC ducts, the use of items such as turbojets will remove dust and debris by simultaneously agitating and vacuuming. All turbojets can be run horizontally for easy attachment to floor registers or to connect to basement ducts without taking them down stairs. Insure that your contractor uses a specialized vacuum with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters. This system pulls the dust and debris from ductwork and into a self-contained compartment trapping and preventing these particles from being disbursed into the air. After an inspection, your contractor should reconnect all ducts, and, if necessary, repair any leaks and clean or replace all grills.
It is useful to ask potential contractors if they are members of trade associations such as the Institute of Heating and Air Conditioning Industries, Inc. and the National Air Duct Cleaners Association. This will insure that they are well versed in the removal of particulates within your home.
It is important for all homeowners to become aware and informed about the health issues that mold and other biological contaminants can cause. This will ensure that all year long your families will breathe easy!
